Peyton Williams is currently 8 months old, she’s been diagnosed with a very rare blood disorder called Diamond Blackfan Anemia (DBA). DBA is a rare blood disorder, characterized by a failure of the bone marrow (the center of the bone where blood cells are made) to produce red blood cells. This failure causes DBA patients, like me, to become severely anemic. According to the doctors DBA affects approximately five in a million or .0005% of infants world wide. Most patients survive on monthly blood transfusions, and some respond to steriod therapy to help produce red blood cells. There is currently NO cure for DBA. Since its so rare funding for research is hard to come by, that’s why your support of Peyton’s Pals is so important. Peyton’s Pals is dedicated to helping raise funds to help support the DBA foundation to aid in research already underway.
